Police in Dongguan, Guangdong province, started an investigation in September regarding Ji Zhongxing's complaint that he was left disabled after a beating, Oriental Morning News reported on Tuesday.

Ji, 34, a farmer from Juancheng county, Shandong province, exploded a device on July 20 at a terminal in Beijing Capital International Airport in an attempt to draw attention to his injury.

Ji said that he was beaten by some law enforcement staff in Dongguan in 2005 and has since been confined to a wheelchair. On Oct 15, Ji was sentenced to six years.

Dongguan police said that the investigation on Ji's injury was continuing and there was no evidence so far to prove Ji's assertion.
