Schools, rail services affected amid heavy rains across Guangdong
Railway and school operations in parts of Guangdong province were affected by prolonged heavy rainfalls in southern coastal areas of the province on Friday.
Based on the extent of the rainfall, China Railway Guangzhou Group will suspend some trains from 8 pm Friday on the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway and Jiangmen-Zhanjiang Railway.
Additionally, some trains may experience delays to varying degrees, according to the railway operator.
Meteorological observatory authorities in Zhuhai, Guangdong, issued a red rainstorm warning signal for the entire city at 1 pm on Friday, as heavy rainfall is expected to persist throughout the city.
Such red rainstorm warning signals have also been issued in Tianhe, Yuexiu and Panyu districts of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong, since Friday afternoon.
According to local measures on suspension of classes, when a red rainstorm warning signal is issued by the meteorological department, all childcare institutions, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, vocational schools, higher education institutions, and off-campus training institutions in the affected areas are required to suspend classes.
