Trade unions boost child care support for workers
The All-China Federation of Trade Unions has issued a notice to support 1,000 employers in operating child care programs for their employees nationwide in 2025.
The federation has urged trade unions at all levels to help include employer-run child care programs, including those by companies and industrial parks, in government-supported child care initiatives. Measures include incorporating such programs into local livelihood projects and expanding access to preferential policies and subsidies related to facilities, utilities such as water, electricity and heat, and taxes.
The federation is also working to include affordable nursery services as part of employee benefits at companies and government bodies. It has set up a special subsidy fund to provide 10,000 yuan ($1,413) to each eligible child care program.
In addition, workers' service centers and cultural halls managed by trade unions are encouraged to support employer-run programs by offering reduced rents and helping address venue and equipment needs with simple renovations.
