Braveheart
Directed by and starring Mel Gibson and Sophie Marceau, Braveheart is perhaps the best-known film people can relate to Scotland. It is a 1995 epic war film, which features a 13th-century Scottish warrior who led the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards at the 68th Academy Awards and won five.
