"It's still not right time to charge income tax on the basis of households."

What it is about: Li Shufu, a national political adviser and president of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, said in last year's proposal that the threshold of personal income tax should be raised to 6,000 yuan. Residents should be given the choice to decide whether to report and pay tax on individual or household basis, taking the family's real burden into consideration.

Feedback: The Geely group received a written reply from authorities that said: "Taking into consideration the current real conditions and technical levels, residents could not be allowed to pay income tax on the back of household." Li will send another proposal related to the reform of personal income tax, still focusing on charging income tax on the basis of households and asking to map out a reasonable tax rate.
