A joint investigation team in Linping district of Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, released a statement on Thursday regarding allegations that illegal in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures had been conducted in a local residential apartment.

According to the statement, after receiving reports from residents, the district committee and district government established a joint investigation and response team composed of departments, including health authorities and public security organs.

On the evening of May 26, relevant authorities in Linping received a public report alleging that individuals were illegally carrying out IVF procedures in a residential property. A dispute over compensation reportedly arose between the parties involved and escalated into a physical conflict.

Officials from the district health bureau and the district public security bureau arrived at the scene to verify and handle the situation.

Law enforcement personnel discovered medical equipment and pharmaceuticals related to human-assisted reproductive technology at the site. The premises were sealed off, and the relevant medical devices and materials were confiscated for further investigation.

Health authorities have since launched a formal investigation into the suspected illegal medical practice. Public security authorities have also opened a case into the conflict at the scene and arranged medical treatment for those injured during the incident.

The statement said that Linping district would continue to advance the investigation and deal with all illegal activities and responsible individuals in accordance with laws and regulations.
