Death toll from heavy rainfall in Central China's Hunan rises to 7

A rescue operation is underway after five more people were reported missing after further neighborhood checks following torrential rains in Shimen county in Changde, Central China's Hunan province, local authorities said on Saturday.
The heavy rainfall, which began on Sunday, impacted all 23 townships and subdistricts in the county, displacing over 31,000 people and affecting more than 100,000 residents. According to local authorities, as of 7:30 pm Friday, the death toll stood at seven.
