Y-shaped Jinghe Bridge opens up transport in Shaanxi
The Jinghe Bridge, a transportation project supporting the Dongzhuang water conservancy facility in Xianyang, Shaanxi province, was completed on Thursday.
The bridge improves regional transportation conditions and provides support for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River basin, its constructor said.
The 284-meter-long bridge spans the more than 200-meter-deep Jinghe River canyon, where steep mountain slopes and difficult terrain created major construction challenges, according to China Railway 20th Bureau Group Corp.
The bridge features a Y-shaped structure in both its horizontal and vertical design, the group said.
To overcome technical difficulties, the project team adopted advanced technologies, including building information modeling, 3D laser scanning, and virtual assembly, to build a full digital construction system that enabled the precise closure of the bridge's curved arch ribs, the group added.
According to the constructor, the project filled a domestic technological gap in the construction of through-type spatial Y-shaped steel box arch bridges and provided valuable experience for similar projects.
