All stranded residents have been safely evacuated from a village in Hubei province that was cut off by torrential rain that lashed the Youshui River basin in Xuan'en county, Enshi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture, since Sunday, media reports said.

The rain-triggered mountain floods damaged roads leading to Baishuihe village and severely disrupted communication facilities, according to local newspaper Hubei Daily.

The village has 502 registered households with a registered population of 1,636 people and around 800 permanent residents, according to the newspaper.

Despite roads being cut off, rescue workers overcame the difficulties by carrying people on their backs and using stretchers to evacuate stranded residents, China Central Television cited Ran Junjie, deputy head of Xuan'en county, as saying on Wednesday morning.

After walking for more than three hours, all trapped villagers were safely transferred, Ran said.

Most evacuees have been relocated to local hotels, while a small number are staying with relatives or friends at other safe locations, he said.

Meanwhile, dedicated teams and personnel have been assigned to provide daily necessities and emotional support for those in shelters. One-on-one assistance has also been arranged for residents staying in dispersed locations, ensuring all evacuees have shelter, food, drinking water, and access to medical care, he added.

The latest information released by Xuan'en county authority showed that as of 8 pm Monday, three people had died and four remained missing. No further official updates have been released so far.
