The 2026 FIE Foil Grand Prix (Shanghai) wrapped up on Sunday in Shanghai's Songjiang district, with Kirill Borodachev and Martina Batini clinching the men's and women's gold medals.
As a top-tier FIE Category-A foil event, this year marked the 22nd consecutive time that the Grand Prix has been held in Shanghai. Offering valuable world ranking points, the Shanghai event gathered 410 of the world's top fencers.
In the men's final, world No 3 Borodachev defeated Poland's Andrzej Rzadkowski 15-9 to claim his first-ever Grand Prix gold.
"The atmosphere here in Shanghai was truly unique. The venue facilities, the live audience and the event organization were all impressive. This was not just a sporting event, but a global celebration of fencing culture," said Borodachev.
In the women's final, 37-year-old Batini from Italy, also world No 3, won over Japan's Yuka Ueno 15-11 to secure her fifth medal in the Shanghai event.
