PLA expresses willingness to advance ties with US military
The Chinese military is willing to work with the United States side to enhance dialogue and manage differences, benefiting world peace, a Chinese defense spokesman said on Monday.
Jiang Bin, a spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, made the remarks during an online news briefing, regarding the development of China-US bilateral military relations in the next phase, following the recent meetings between the two presidents last week in Beijing.
In their meetings, both leaders pointed out that the two sides should make better use of communication channels in the political, diplomatic, and military-to-military fields.
Jiang said the two leaders reached important consensus on building a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability, charting the course and providing foundational guidance for China-US ties going forward.
The steady development of the bilateral military relationship between China and the US is in the shared interests of both sides and is also the common expectation of the international community, he noted.
"We stand ready to work with the US side to deliver the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and respect each other's core interests and major concerns," said Jiang.
He stressed that the Chinese military is willing to work with the US military to strengthen communication and dialogue, manage differences, build trust, and dispel misgivings, so as to promote the steady and long-term development of a stable and positive China-US bilateral military ties along the right track.
That would benefit in fostering a bright future for China-US relations and safeguarding world peace and stability, the spokesman highlighted.
