Former National Railway Administration head indicted with bribery
The former head of the National Railway Administration, Fei Dongbin, has been indicted with suspected bribery, China's top procuratorate announced on Monday.
The Supreme People's Procuratorate stated that the case was concluded by the National Commission of Supervision before being handed over to the procuratorial authorities. Following the investigation, the SPP approved Fei's arrest and designated the Changchun People's Procuratorate in Jilin province to review and prosecute the case.
Recently, the Changchun People's Procuratorate filed the indictment with the Changchun Intermediate People's Court. During the review and prosecution stage, prosecutors informed the defendant of his litigation rights, interrogated him, and heard the opinions of his defense counsel.
According to the indictment, Fei took advantage of the various positions he held during his tenure in the railway system and local government, including as executive deputy director of the former Beijing Railway Bureau and former Jinan Railway Bureau, director of the former Hohhot Railway Bureau, mayor of Ulaanqab in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, vice-governor of Henan province, and head of the National Railway Administration, to secure benefits for certain organizations and individuals through other State functionaries. In return, he illegally accepted a particularly large amount of money and valuables from others.
Prosecutors?said that Fei should be held criminally responsible for the crime of bribery. Fei, 55, is a native of Jinzhou, Liaoning province. He started working in 1991 and joined the CPC in 1996. Having long served in the railway sector, Fei began his career at the former Shenyang Railway Bureau in Liaoning in 1991, where he later held positions including deputy director and chief engineer.
After 2017, he successively served as mayor and deputy Party chief of Ulaanqab, and vice-governor of Henan province. In September 2022, he was appointed head of the National Railway Administration, until he was placed under investigation in 2025. In December 2025, he was expelled from the Party and removed from his office.
