An exhibition of natural resources science and technology achievements will open on World Earth Day, which falls on Wednesday this year, aiming to promote public understanding and participation in resource protection.

"The exhibition will highlight recent innovations in natural resources science and technology. Through public outreach, we aim to promote these achievements and inspire a new generation of workers to carry forward the tradition of innovation — using science to protect our lucid waters and lush mountains, and working together to build a beautiful China where people and nature coexist in harmony," Zhang Haonan, deputy director of the Geological Museum of China, said at a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhang noted that this year's exhibition will be held in two cities, starting with Jinan, Shandong province, followed by Changsha, Hunan province.

He pointed out that Shandong was chosen because it is a major economic and technological province, highlighting the region's progress in areas such as the creation of a province-wide three-dimensional geological model, advancements in the exploration of rich iron ore, and breakthroughs in key technologies for offshore gold exploration.

Additionally, the exhibition will provide a platform for the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application, promoting the full-chain transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

"This will help cultivate new quality productive forces in the natural resources sector and better support its high-quality development," Zhang added.
