China-Greece partnership celebrated at Chongqing forum
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Greece and China, the 3rd International Forum on Mutual Learning among Civilizations commenced on Thursday at Southwest University in Chongqing.
The forum was held at Center for Chinese and Greek Civilizations, also known as the Chinese KELKIP.
In a video address, Shahbaz Khan, director and representative of the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, commended the center for its efforts to promote dialogue, educational exchange, and deeper understanding between cultures. "By bringing together two rich intellectual traditions, the center has created a meaningful platform for reflection and cooperation," he said.
A highlight of the event was the launch of the China-Greece University Alliance for Mutual Learning Among Civilizations, which brings together universities from China and Greece to form a new platform for educational exchange.
The forum also saw the release of two book series aimed at enhancing mutual learning between the two countries. One book series is the first collection in China focused on Greek law, and the other covers medical exchanges along the Silk Road.
According to Cui Yanqiang, director of the Chinese KELKIP, the Greek law series is a product of collaboration between legal scholars and university professors from both nations. The medical exchange series was developed in cooperation with Sichuan University.
The forum ran from Tuesday to Thursday. In addition, on Saturday, a salon will be held in celebration of World Greek Language Day.
Greece established the Greek KELKIP in Athens in 2020.
