China's Beinao-1 brain-computer interface used in livestreamed surgery

The Beinao-1 utilizes a semi-invasive epidural implantation approach without opening the dura mater or making direct contact with brain tissue. Electrode placement can be completed by creating only a small window in the skull. This design minimizes trauma and infection risks while achieving an internationally recognized optimal balance between signal accuracy and safety.
The patient undergoing surgery is a young man who became paralyzed after an electric scooter accident. According to the plan, two weeks after the operation, he will begin hand-function training with brain-computer feedback using the BCI device.
