The Shanghai Welcome Ceremony and Friendly Matches for the 55th Anniversary of China-US Ping-Pong Diplomacy were held at Shanghai University of Sport on Monday. During the event, table tennis and flag football friendly matches were held simultaneously, providing a platform for young Chinese and American athletes to engage in face-to-face exchanges.

Chen Jing, president of the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, noted that a diverse range of sports are emerging as new bonds for people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, with young people at the core of this effort.

Cameron Dicker, the kicker for the NFL's Los Angeles Chargers, was born in Hong Kong and spent 11 years in Shanghai, where his sports dreams first took root. Returning to the city after 15 years, he was struck by its rapid development, technological advancements, and modernized infrastructure, which deepened his affection for his hometown.

"It's so cool coming back here. I think everything's really upgraded technology-wise, and like it's all a lot newer infrastructure and it's really beautiful," he said. "Growing up here really helped me just be able to connect with everybody."
