Former Anhui official investigated for suspected discipline, law violations
Yao Yuzhou, former vice-chairman of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has been placed under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation, China's top anti-graft authorities said on Thursday.
According to a statement from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, Yao is suspected of serious violations of Party discipline and laws.
Yao, 66, is a native of Anhui province who began working in 1979 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1987.
He spent his career in Anhui, serving as mayor of Ma'anshan in 2003, Party chief of Tongling in 2008, Party chief of Xuancheng in 2013, and Party chief of Chuzhou in 2016.
He later served as secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Anhui Provincial Committee. In 2020, he was appointed vice-chairman of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the CPPCC and retired in 2023.
