Nearly 6.78 million border entries and exits were made during this year's Qingming Festival holiday, which ran from Saturday to Monday, according to a statement issued by the National Immigration Administration on Tuesday.

The daily average of crossings reached 2.26 million, marking a 9.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The peak day for border crossings occurred on Monday, with over 2.33 million recorded.

Among the travelers, nearly 3.3 million were residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, representing a 19.5 percent increase from the previous year. Foreign nationals accounted for 843,000 crossings, a 20.9 percent rise year-on-year. Notably, 319,000 of these foreign travelers entered China under visa-free policies, a 30.7 percent increase compared to last year.

In total, 307,000 transportation vehicles, including aircraft, ships, trains, and automobiles, were inspected by immigration departments across China, reflecting a 13.3 percent increase from the previous year.
