Former Shanxi legislator under investigation
Yue Puyu, a former senior legislator of Shanxi province, is being investigated for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, China's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Monday.
The announcement was made online by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. No further details were released.
Public information shows that the 66-year-old native of Shanxi started his career in June 1982 and joined the Party in September 1985. He held various positions in his hometown, including chairman of Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd and mayor of Linfen, before becoming deputy head of the standing committee of the provincial people's congress, the local top legislative body, in January 2020.
He received the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award and was named an outstanding entrepreneur of Shanxi.
