PLA vows stronger combat readiness against 'Taiwan independence'
The People's Liberation Army will continue to strengthen military training and combat readiness, and will use stronger capabilities and a wider range of means to firmly strike at "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and oppose external interference, Ministry of National Defense spokesman Jiang Bin said at a regular news conference on Thursday.
His comments came after the Dongguan and Anqing, two Type 055 guided-missile destroyers, recently completed their first formation drill and live-fire exercise since joining the navy of the People's Liberation Army's Eastern Theater Command.
Jiang said the complete reunification of the motherland is an unstoppable historical trend, a just cause and the aspiration of the people. He warned that if "Taiwan independence" armed forces insist on resisting to the end, they will face a dead end.
