A 5-year-old boy in Lhasa, Xizang autonomous region, was swiftly flown to Chengdu of Sichuan province for emergency surgery after severing a finger, thanks to a rapid and compassionate rescue by Xizang Airport and airline workers on Monday, Xizang Daily reported on Wednesday.

At 8:00 pm Monday, as the airport's final outbound flight of the day between Lhasa and Chengdu was preparing for takeoff, the airport information officer received an urgent call from Bu Chime, the child's father. The young boy's left pinky finger was accidentally severed earlier, it said.

The family, without tickets and necessary documents, was rushing to the airport, racing against the clock to save the child's finger within the critical four-hour plantation period.

Thus various departments at the airport sprang into coordinated action. The airport staff members escorted Bu Chime and the child through all necessary procedures. At 8:44 pm, Bu Chime rushed into the airport terminal carrying the child, and it took only 15 minutes for them to successfully board the flight.

Simultaneously, Xizang Airport Group coordinated with Chengdu Spanglish International Airport to ensure that an ambulance was ready to transfer the child to a hospital immediately upon landing.

"The trip from Lhasa to Chengdu is long, but you at the airport made me feel warm, and I know my child's finger is saved," Bu Chime was quoted as saying by Xizang Daily.
