Nanjing appoints acting mayor

NANJING -- Lan Shaomin on Friday was appointed acting mayor of Nanjing City, capital of East China's Jiangsu province.
Lan was named vice mayor and acting mayor at a session of the Standing Committee of the Nanjing Municipal People's Congress.
At the session, the local legislature accepted the resignation of former mayor Miao Ruilin.
