LONDON - A Red Arrow pilot, identified as Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging, has been killed after his jet crashed in Dorset, south Britain, following a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival, local media reported on Saturday.

The Ministry of Defense said the 33-year-old from Rutland was killed when his Hawk aircraft crashed just south of Bournemouth Airport this afternoon.

Only eight of the nine Red Arrows that have taken part in a flying display earlier were seen land on the runway, said a BBC producer at the scene.

A spokesman for Ministry of Defense said "we are aware of an incident involving one of the Red Arrows and we are investigating."

The Red Arrows are the acrobatic team of the Royal Air Force.
