SYDNEY: Australians living in the eastern states are bracing themselves for another dust storm similar to one that blanketed Sydney and Brisbane earlier this week, according to a report on Friday by News Ltd.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned that a front moving from South Australia could bring the dust to the eastern states after flights were disrupted in the outback New South Wales (NSW) town of Broken Hill.

"Broken Hill is experiencing raised dust and strong gusty westerly winds. The conditions are quite similar to those of Wednesday's dust storm," S.K.Wong from the Bureau of Meteorology' s Sydney branch said.

"Although the winds aren't as strong, the dust storm could spread to Sydney and even as far as parts of Queensland.

"We are keeping a very close eye on the situation and will issue warnings if and when appropriate."

Earlier this week a massive dust storm blanketed NSW and Queensland for several hours blacking out famous landmarks due to the thickness of the dust.
