Kuan: Azerbaijan a good choice for both US, Russia

This proposal by Putin is interesting. Putin wants to locate the missile's radar-based system in Azerbaijan, a country that borders both Russia and Iran (amongst other nations and the Caspian Sea). Putin also wants great access to the radar and its technology.

This would allow Russia to quickly destroy the radar by air or by land without invading multiple European nations. Azerbaijan has more or less good relations with Russia, so Azerbaijan could help Russia destroy the radar.

This would also allow Russia to acquire US radar technology.

This would allow the US greater radar access to Iran.

The problem for the US is that since Azerbaijan borders Iran, Iran would have an easier time destroying the radar base.
