Officials gathered in Beijing Thursday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uganda.

China was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Uganda after it gained independence from Britain. Over the last 50 years, the friendship between Uganda and China has always been firm.

The 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uganda is a milestone of these two countries' friendship. China is looking forward to strengthening the ties with Uganda in economics, politics and culture in the coming decades.
