KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's Ho Mun Hua staged a faultless display to nail the first gold on the opening day of the World Wushu Championships (WWC) at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Association Hall on Friday.

It was his second world title in men's nanquan (barehands southern style) following his success in Toronto, Canada, four years ago.

Ho, 24, impressed the judges with his graceful yet powerful movements, earning 9.63 points for the title followed by Japan's Koki Nakata with 9.60 and Iran's Farshad Arabi with 9.59 points.

On Friday's performance, Ho, a Malacca born athlete and a member of the national squad for the last six years, said he did just enough to win the gold.

The five-day biennial world meet runs until Nov 5. with athletes from more than 80 countries and regions attending the WWC.
