Spyker drivers told to raise their game

LONDON, June 13 - Spyker have told Christijan Albers and Formula One rookie Adrian Sutil to raise their game after a disappointing Canadian Grand Prix last weekend.

Both drivers crashed out at Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve after raising hopes of the Ferrari-powered team's first points finish in a race that saw just 12 finishers out of 22 starters.

"The retirements were avoidable and we know that," said team boss Colin Kolles in an interview issued by Spyker on Wednesday ahead of the U.S. Grand Prix.

"We cannot continue making mistakes that ultimately cost us positions and points.

"Both (technical head) Mike (Gascoyne) and myself spoke to Adrian and Christijan after the race and explained how we could not accept another situation like this," he added.

Gascoyne said the team, bottom of the constructors' championship, had missed a great opportunity.

"We were very much on top of it on the pit wall. We had the right strategy and it was going to come to us," he said.

"In the end what should have been a great opportunity for us was lost through a couple of driving mistakes and that's very disappointing."
