A range of measures are being taken to ensure smooth traffic in Doha when the 15th Asian Games officially opens Friday evening, organizers said.

"Local television and radio are running education advertisements advising Qataris of the best time to leave for the ceremony, the routes and parking arrangements," Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee (DAGOG) spokesman Ahmed Abdulla Al-Khulaifi told a daily briefing on Thursday.

"There will also be a lot of traffic police and staff to clear the traffic jams."

Friday's opening ceremony at the Khalifa Stadium will be watched by over 40,000 spectators.
