Doha - The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge will be leading a delegation to Doha where the 15th edition of the Asian Games will begin on Dec 1.

Rogge's delegation includes representatives of the IOC's Executive Board, the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

The IOC president and other VIPs will arrive Doha on Nov 30. They will be coming from Kuwait, where the IOC Executive Board is having its meeting.

The visit gives Qatar a chance to show the IOC officials how they are getting ready for the Asian Games, and also how they hope to make a bid for the 2016 Olympic Games.

The 2008 Olympics will be held in Beijing and London hosts the 2012 games.

The Indian Capital, New Delhi, recently announced its intention to join the race alongside Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. The latest has been Doha.

Qatar had hosted the West Asian Games in late 2005.
