Varian Medical Systems will introduce a new solar-powered radiotherapy product to its manufacturing plant in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-Town) this year.
The Halcyon system is Varian's newest cancer treatment device, featuring low energy consumption and high efficiency.
It is engineered to simplify and enhance every aspect of image-guided volumetric intensity-modulated radiotherapy.
The product is projected to enter the domestic market next year, with the Beijing-based plant being its only manufacturer worldwide.
Varian Medical Systems, a leading producer of radiation oncology treatments and software in the US, established its first manufacturing base of linear particle accelerators outside North America in E-Town during 2007.
The company is following the strategy of "in China, for China", with the aim of expanding the Chinese radiotherapy market.
