Revenue up for Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation

According to the 2016 second quarter financial report of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, revenue of the quarter was $690.2 million, an increase of 26.3 percent over the first quarter. The gross profit margin was 31.6 percent, up by seven percent over the first quarter. The second quarter gross profit translates to $115.4 million, a net profit of $97.6 million.
Sales revenue for 40nm wafers increased by 92 percent over last year and by 27% over last month. Revenue from the Chinese market increased by 28.7 percent compared to last year, and by 20.1 percent compared to last month.
There are three main components in the revenue growth: the Chinese market is accounting for more market share; more and more Chinese design company clients are appearing in the market; and the international semiconductor manufacturing industry is growing.
It is anticipated that revenue in the third and fourth quarters will continue to grow.
