E-town carries out environment internal audit

The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-town)'s environmental protection bureau recently carried out a three-day internal audit. The move aimed to optimize the town's environmental management quality and prepare for the upcoming external audit in May.
The bureau invited experts on April 20 to explain audit requirements and implementation methods. Professional training was given to internal auditors.
The inspection team checked that the town's environmental management system is running continuously and satisfies relevant law and regulations. The team also carefully looked over areas for improvement. The work has paved the way for a sustainable and effective environmental management system and external audit.
The internal audit team spoke highly of the town's overall environmental quality at the summary meeting on April 23. It said that the town's environmental management system is effective, with clear-cut responsibility allocation.
The team said effective measures have been made to conserve energy, reduce emissions and contain pollution. However, it also pointed out existing problems in the development of the town's environmental management system and advised that these problems be fixed.
The environmental protection bureau will urge relevant parties to solve those problems and ensure the success of the external audit.
