A student, surnamed Hu, was charged with killing a schoolmate, and had his second trial on Feb 20, 2014, at the People's Higher Court of Anhui province. Hu, a student at Anhui Medical University, was charged in using an axe to slay another student surnamed Tan in the school library in 2012, because Tan was dating his girlfriend. He received the death sentence with a two-year reprieve in his first trial, which can be reduced to decades in jail, but public prosecutors considered it too lenient.
