Lijiang, Yunnan
The slate rooftops, cobblestone streets and whispering canals of Lijiang in northern Yunnan have made it China's number one tourist destination. There in the city's Old Town are countless small boutiques of souvenirs, including the popular Cultural Revolution-era quotations of Chairman Mao Zedong (pictured).
