Yeah well, I am very suspicious of beggars in China. It seems that too many are just making a cushy living. It was said some time ago that some of these beggars are organized and make more money than many workers, including foreign teachers, in China. My general rule of thumb when I was there was to walk on by and ignore it, no matter what their cause was and if I couldn't read it, all the better. I don't mind helping genuinely needy folks but the line is too blurred in China so I err on the side of my pocket....same where I am now too!
