Comment on "Shooting victim's wife faces big bills" (China Daily, Aug 17)

It's the authorities' responsibility to protect people from gunman like Zhou Kehua. Besides handing down exemplary punishment to such criminals, the authorities should also provide financial and psychological support to the victims and their families.

Victims of crimes may suffer from trauma for a long time. While celebrating the arrest and punishment of criminals like Zhou, people should not forget to help the victims and their families.
