Accident: Punish the guilty

Comment on "At least 35 dead in E. China train crash" (China Daily website, July 24)

I was shocked by the accident and felt terribly sorry for the victims and their families. They boarded the train, taking it to be a convenient and easy trip.

Families have lost their beloved ones. Many of the injured passengers are still in hospital and we pray for them to recover soon.

There are a lot of other things we need to do now. We should investigate thoroughly and find out the cause of the accident and punish all the people, especially senior officials who were in charge of safety operations and responsible for it.

The authorities should reflect on their work, too, to find out security loopholes and take steps to ensure that such tragedies do not recur.
