Laws should be enforced with severe punishment

Comment on "Arms of the law must act stronger" (China Daily website on April 6)

Laws should be enforced, otherwise they are useless. But it should not only be the fear of being penalized, an even bigger problem is the antisocial, inconsiderate and selfish behavior of the public for traffic violations, like using the emergency lane to block ambulances and other service vehicles which need to get to an accident quickly to save lives.

In addition, when an ambulance with sirens and flashing lights approaches cars from behind, nobody is willing to make space. I would like those drivers to think that they could be in that ambulance one time, maybe dying because their fellow-drivers don’t clear the road.
