Local officials need training

Comment on "'Landmarks' smear image" (China Daily, June 23)

After I read the article, I was left wondering why the central government gave out those free handouts without thinking how the money should be spent?

I suggest local officials be trained by someone, either from the central government or the academia, on how to manage funds wisely and use them on useful projects, such as those that can improve people's health and education.

The training should be done at a simple level so that local officials can easily grasp the real meaning of the exercise.
