Waste of human resources
(China Daily)

The poor job market has forced some college graduates to clean septic tanks, says an article on the website www.jxcn.cn. The following is an excerpt:

A cleaning company in Guangdong province is offering 100,000 yuan ($14,605) a year to recruit college graduates to clean septic tanks.

It is similar to previous reports of job offers to college graduates to work in funeral parlors and toilets. It has triggered heated debate on the Internet.

The state of the job market today leaves little choice for college graduates. A diploma does not guarantee three meals a day. Graduates have become more pragmatic about their employment expectations.

That is why some are willing to become cleaners or to be posted to the remote western regions.

If we are really concerned about these graduates, we should take a fresh look at our educational, and other systems, to prevent wastage of human resources.
