Apart from worshiping the mountains, Mosuo people also pay tribute to the sea, or the goddess of the Mother Lake.

The Sea Worshiping Festival falls on July 25 of the lunar calendar. On this day, villagers walk or ride to the mother lake, where they kowtow and burn incense to show respect.

Locals not only bring prayer flags but also bring food and wear bright colors. On that day, young Mosuo people sing love songs to each other, forming a spectacular scene.
