Tai'an sees boom in tourism during National Day holiday

Tai'an, East China's Shandong province experienced a tourism boom during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, local media reported.

According to official data, the 14 scenic spots and six rural tourist spots monitored by local authorities received 895,676 tourists and generated revenue of 46.11 million yuan ($7.16 million) during the seven-day holiday.

Tai'an organized more than 170 cultural activities during the holiday. A stunt show featuring trains and railways at Taishan Xicheng Scenic Area attracted a large number of visitors.

The city's popular scenic areas are still the main tourist hotspots. Many travelers climbed Mount Tai on Oct 1 to see the sunrise. The number of visitors to Mount Tai scenic area surged in the first two days of the holiday.

Dongping Lake scenic spot held an arts and culture festival which featured a series of cultural performances including traditional operas and a folk performance called datiehua, which involves spraying molten iron.

The local government implemented a series of measures to support epidemic prevention and control and to help promote the recovery of the cultural tourism industry during the holiday.

The city's 81 scenic spots were required to limit the number of tourists, make appointments, measure temperature of tourists and check health codes to ensure the safety of travelers during the holiday.
