Medical care improvements in northern province
A team of doctors and specialists from key hospitals in the city of Datong, Shanxi province, visited outlying rural parts of the city, on Oct 25, to provide some free medical care for local people, mainly in the area of cardiovascular diseases, geriatric conditions, and neurological problems.
In August, the city established a medical union with access to the resources of better hospitals in the city, a few community health centers, and some rural medical stations to send out teams of medical volunteers on a regular basis, to improve the level of medical care outside the city proper. So far, they have attended to more than 700 people.
Each time, the team of volunteers focuses on specific diseases.
