Datong city in Shanxi province won the bid to host the 16th Sports Games of Shanxi province in a vote held in the provincial capital Taiyuan on Aug 3 after competing with three other rival cities.
It's the first time that the right of hosting provincial sport games has been determined by bidding. Sports faciliites in cities other than Taiyuan have multiplied in recent years.
The quadrennial top provincial sport event in Shanxi will open on Aug 8.
