The condition of the local logistics industry was the subject of a news conference held July 3 by Shanxi Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology. The industry has shown steady growth in Shanxi due to increasing social logistics demands.
The news conference constituted the first release of a report on the operating conditions of Shanxi's logistics industry.
Logistics' total market pull in Shanxi hit 2.74 trillion yuan ($410 billion), showing year-on-year growth of 6.7 percent, equal to national growth. Total social logistics costs reached 26.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.2 percent.
Industrial products continue to dominate Shanxi’s logistics demands, reaching 62.2 percent of the total. The demand structure of logistics has also seen gradual improvement.
"The logistics industry will seek to change its development mode and structure to reduce costs and increase efficiency," said an official from Shanxi Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology.
