A national tour of selected regional operas was initiated in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, on May 18.
During the tour, 11 kinds of regional operas and plays, including Peking Opera, Jinju Opera from Shanxi, and Yuju Opera from Henan province, will be performed 55 times across China.
The initiation ceremony was sponsored by Shanxi Culture Department and Beijing Poly Theatre.
The tour aims to highlight China's traditional culture and promote traditional opera to a new generation
All the operas being performed have won art and cultural awards.
