The first group of one thousand public bicycles received good reviews from the citizens after they were put into trial operation in the city of Jinzhong, Shanxi province.
As of August 25, the public bicycles have been in operation for 10 days, after eight months’ preparation, surveys, construction and testing. Over 20,000 people checked the operation scheme and bike networks through Internet platforms such as WeChat and Weibo on its first operation day, while 50 people became the first users.
As one of Jinzhong’s key public works of 2015, the public bicycles system has applied the PPP (Public-Private-Partnership) model in the construction, through cooperation between government and companies to get financing. 3000 more bicycles and 200 stations will go into operation by the end of year.
These public bicycles can not only get to places other vehicles cannot reach, but can also improve traffic conditions and reduce energy consumption.
