Shanxi province will build special tourism railway lines totaling 100 kilometers in length with an investment of 8 billion yuan ($1.29 billion) in the next few years. The railway will include the Hebian - Wutai Mountain line, the Feng Lingdu – Hukou line, the line along Taihang Mountain, and the Xi’an - Hua Mountain and Xi’an-Yuncheng lines.

There are numerous tourist resources along the railway network, including famous scenic areas like Wutai Mountain, Hukou Waterfall, Wang Mang Mountain and the Grand Canyon at Taihang Mountain. “The construction of the railway network shortens the distance between cities. The cluster development in the tourist economic zone along the railway will bring many business opportunities for many tourist companies,” said responsible people in the Shanxi provincial tourism industry.
