On April 7, 2014, President Armando Emilio Guebuza of Mozambique attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of the Water Distribution Centre Project at Quelimane, which had been undertaken by POWERCHINA. The president personally pressed the start button, which marked the official operation of the water distribution center.

The project, which began construction in June 2011, includes a water reservoir with 2,500 m3 capacity, a pump house, a water tower, electrical works, pipes and ancillary facilities. It took 15 months to modify the foundation treatment scheme due to the high level of underground water during construction.
